All-American Open Day

Saturday 20th May, 2006

to celebrate 60 years of the British Region of the NMRA

  • The exhibition will be open from 11.30am until 5.00pm. Admission £1.50, children and OAPs £1.00.

  • Three of the club's fixed layouts will be on show and fully working, but running American stock. There will be at least six other layouts including personal layouts of club members and guest layouts from NMRA members.

The will be some trade stands. It will be held on the first and second floors of the Con. Club, which has no lift access - sorry.

  • The following club, members' and guest layouts are scheduled to appear:

  • Cadoc Bluffs, an American HO-scale layout depicting an imaginary line in the foothills of the Rockies. Both steam and diesel hauled trains will run, probably with one or two old-timers as well. The back scene round three sides of the room is really impressive - thanks Dave!!!

  • Holton General, the club's main OO-gauge British outline layout, but it will be running with american stock for the day. The branch line extension to a re-furbished Weobly Marsh station will also be in operation for the first time.

  • Machynlleth, an N-gauge layout with this important Cambrian Railways junction station as it was in the 1930's. The layout has been fully re-furbished, with a dramatic improvement to the scenery. Again this will run non-prototypically with american stock on the day.

  • Devil's Creek. An oldtime american layout in HO-scale, featuring a passing station on a single track line in the foothills of the Rockies. There are extensive freight facilities and a spur into a mine. Spend some time just looking for the many cameos on this beautifully modelled layout.

  • Snake Bend Railroad. N-gauge modular layout of the Worcester N-gauge Group.

  • Blue Jay . A fun layout from our artist member depicting the American wide west, with the 7th cavalry much in evidence - try counting the horses!

  • Wiregrass Central - N-gauge guest layout from David Swan

  • Maryville - HO switching layout from the Pontypridd MRC.

  • Cliff Farmer is working on a new ON30 narrow gauge short line layout.
