Layout 5: Weobly Marsh

At Moreton-on-Lugg on the main line from Hereford to Leominster are to be found the sidings for the Hereford Army barracks munition stores. A little to the west of this lie the small settlements of Kings Pyon and Weobly. At some time in the Victorian boom years of railway building, a branch was built from the army junction at Moreton-on-Lug towards Weobley, but ending a little outside the town itself at a place which has become known as "Weobley Marsh".

The above is solely fiction, or to put it another way, this layout is just one more of the "line that never was". It could have been though, and in this layout the club has tried to depict the area and times as best we could. A number of buildings have been copied faithfully from Weobley town, including the thatched bus shelter, to try and give the place a realistic "feel". This layout is one of the oldest the club has available for exhibition use, it being built some twelve years ago, and has been brought back out recently to give some variety to the layouts which we are exhibiting. A new fiddle yard has been constructed and the back scene has now been painted depicting other buildings of the area. The layout operates to a strict timetable, although the stock is varied to depict different time periods.
