This working diorama has been built in memory of my friend Captain W (Bill) Walker R.F.A. (retired) who passed away in October 2002 and is sadly missed by all his friends at the Barry and Penarth Model Railway Club where he was a founder member many years ago.

The layout is of nowhere in particular and has no special timeframe but it could be somewhere in British Colombia, Canada where logging is one of the main industries. Before he died Bill bequeathed to me the model of the sawmill. As it would not fit in with my own layout at home I decided that it was too good to collect dust and should appear on its own layout. As you can see the sawmill forms part of a small community where a number of other activities are taking place, BUT danger lurks in the high country. Can you see why?

The backscenes were painted by Club member David Woolnough.

The total dimensions of the layout including fiddle yards are just 12 foot by 2 foot.
